RESEARCH ASSISTANTSHIP
Ph.D. Student Opportunity in Geospatial Technology and Infectious Disease Ecology
The Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans and Space, University of New Hampshire, with the support of a 4-year (2006-2010) research grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), seeks a highly qualified and motivated student to participate in a project that studies ecology and risk assessment of highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N1) in Asia. This multidisciplinary research project involves geospatial technology (remote sensing, geographical information system, and global positioning system), ornithology, agriculture, wetlands, animal health, and spatial epidemiology. This project provides research assistantship to one Ph.D. student for working in the field of geospatial technology and infectious disease ecology. The Ph.D. student will work primarily on remote sensing data analysis and field surveys in Asian countries.
The successful student will be self-motivated, and able to work well with people from different countries. The candidate is expected to enroll in the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Natural Resources and Earth System Science (http://www.unh.edu/nressphd/).
