Aquatic Biogeochemical Modeling and Remote Sensing at Global Scales
The Water Systems Analysis Group in the Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space at the University of New Hampshire seeks a post doctoral associate who will collaborate on research to understand the controls of biogeochemical fluxes through river networks at continental U.S. to global scales.  The position will involve the development and integration of aquatic biogeochemical models, remote sensing information, and existing field observations.  Model development will focus on coupling the biogeochemical cycles of carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediments in a spatially distributed modeling framework.  Research will explore the mechanisms of changing biogeochemical fluxes in response to various anthropogenic changes (climate, land use, population, hydrologic engineering). This position is supported by a 3-year research grant from NASA.

Qualifications:  A recent Ph.D. in Earth System Science, Hydrology, Biogeochemistry, or related field, with significant experience in computer modeling and remote sensing.  Previous experience in spatially explicit modeling is preferred.  Candidates should be strong in GIS, database management and computer programming, with an interest in exploring the biogeochemical properties of river networks.
